Stock Trading

Stock market trading involves the trading of company stocks and shares or derivatives at a price that has been agreed, and is a way for investing in companies that are regarded as potentially profitable. Stocks are listed daily on an exchange which allows buyers and sellers to come together to participate in share trading and people who get involved in stock market trading can be any individual from the very smallest of investors to professional hedge fund traders, however many years ago this was not the case it would most likely have been the very wealthiest of families taking part in stock market trading. Share trading might take place on the trading floor of say the London stock exchange or virtually be electronic means, but all trades are carried out by a buyer putting a bid price in and finding a price that the seller finds acceptable then the share trading will take place.

If you are going to embark on share trading then it is essential that you become familiar with the whole process and also do your research. You will need to understand stock price quotes and also be able to read and understand the stock trading indexes that are used as a valuable tool for determining the performance of companies listed on the stock market.

It will be necessary to have a stock broker to act as a middle man when you get involved in stock market trading, these professional people will act on your behalf and are regulated by the Financial Services Authority ensuring that all the transactions that they provide are carried out legitimately. There are distinct differences in the services that brokers provide; Full service Brokers will advise and assess ones personal situation to enable them to recommend which markets to trade in, this is the more costly but most sensible of options for anyone new to stock market trading. Discount Brokers will only deal with telephone or internet share trading orders, they will not provide advice but act as the facilitators, some may provide some facilities for research but on the whole this is more for the knowledgeable and certainly not for the complete beginner. Money Managers will invest on your behalf usually for a percentage and a large fee, Money Managers usually only deal with high net worth clients.
