Where can I bet and what can I bet on?

There are over 20 providers of spread betting in the UK which has been encouraging competition which has driven the prices down. It has been estimated that there are approximately 400,000 people spread betting in the UK alone.

The majority of people spread bet are investors and city traders as they know how to play the market. However, anybody can learn to spread bet and you don’t need to have a vast amount of knowledge to be successful. People who spread bet just as a hobby are generally known as short term traders.

One of the great advantages of spread betting is that you can bet on almost everything.  This includes;

•    Shares in the UK, Europe and the USA
•    Sports events for example the FA cup final or the Grand Prix

In addition to this you can also spread bet on random things such the weather, fuel prices or whether or not the interest rate is going to go up or down.  You really can bet on anything.
