The advantages of spread betting

There are many advantages to spread betting, not least because it is classed as gambling and therefore it tax free should you make any profits but you also do not have to declare it on your tax form!

In addition to this there is no stamp duty owed on spread betting. Stamp duty is 0.5% which can amount to a large sum of money if you are betting on a regularly basis over a long period of time.
One of the great advantages of spread betting is that you can bet using small amounts of money, as small as £1 per point. This allows for greater flexibility for the gambler. Unlike the stock market which is closed in the evenings and at the weekend, you can spread bet 24 hours a day 7 days a week and the majority of spread betting is done online so you can enjoy betting from the comfort of your own home.

If you decide to spread bet on other stock markets other than the FTSE, such as the DOW Jones or NASDAQ, all trading is done in pounds so you won’t lose any money having to convert into the necessary currency.
