BetOnline.com’s attempt at getting into the Guinness Book of World Records by placing a bet for charity from the summit of Mount Everest may have failed, but these courageous people still managed to successfully get into the record books by placing bets from Base Camp 3 and 4.
The company promised to donate $20,000 upon their team successfully reaching the peak of the world's highest mountain and successfully placing a wager. There were many spread bets available during the ascent but a technical glitch prevented the BetOnline.com/Peak Freaks team from making their bet from the summit of Mount Everest meaning that the $20,000 donation to the Feel Your Boobies Foundation or IDEA League will not be happening. That is not to say that something won’t be done for charity. The company is considering its position at the moment. This adventure, technological advances and the internet just goes to prove that you don’t need to be based in an office with a continuous power supply and traders really can operate and take market positions from pretty much anywhere on the planet. The question now is how long will it be before a similar attempt is made to place a bet from space? I would like to hazard a guess that there are indeed a few prepared to take a position on this matter out there as well!
