Minimal losses are the key to successful spread betting

Ask any gambler and they will tell you, most of their drive to bet is the buzz of the risk, will they or won’t they win? Having gambled on the odd Grand National in the past I have to say, it’s true. As you wait with fingers crossed to see if your horse makes it to the end, you are transfixed for however many minutes they run until they romp home or fall at the first fence.

All sorts of emotions surge forth that are not always necessarily felt without the presence of that little something extra and if you are lucky enough to win, the small triumphant feeling that it gives you can and does make it addictive. There are so many temptations to put your winnings on something else but that is something that I personally would try to avoid doing. A lucky streak is all well and good but it doesn’t last forever. With spread betting you can pretty much bet on whatever and whoever you want these days and although it’s safe to say that Girls Aloud will go Top 10 with their next album, you can never be TOO confident.

Random bets like these are Ok now and again and if you profit from them, this is good but it wouldn’t be wise to use this form of ‘guesswork’ on a regular basis. Knowing what you are gambling on and having as much information surrounding it within your reach will ensure that you minimise the risks of losing. It wasn’t long ago that it would’ve been considered a safe bet for Cliff Richard to be the Christmas No 1, however this has radically changed with the likes of X-Factor and other up and coming artists. The same with predictions in most of the reality TV shows, Verne Troyer was the bookies favourite at the beginning of Celebrity Big Brother this year, how shocked were some punters to find out that Ulrika Jonsson had walked away with the first prize – not to mention their winnings? Not everything in life is a safe bet and if you take that into consideration when spread betting, you won’t fare too badly.
