Mervyn King’s revelation of 2008 was that the average family’s standard of living would ‘stagnate’, however this seemed to be the case in previous years so it was hardly groundbreaking news and if you were to look up the word ‘stagnate’, then perhaps it wasn’t the best of words to have chosen in the first place considering the access we have to finance and credit.

Having recently reached its 60th anniversary, the 45rpm single has yet again stood up against those who predicted its demise. Sales are rising once more, which is good news for both record companies and artists alike. The music industry has suffered at the hands of the internet where downloading tracks have taken preference over buying vinyl, not to mention the introduction of CDs.

How do you Rate it?

Following a number of rate cuts recently, the Bank of England has decided to keep interest rates on hold for the timebeing. Last October, rates stood at 5% but have now been reduced to 0.5%. It has also injected money into the economy to the tune of £26.4 billion. For a spread better this is a perfect projection of potential winnings for the future.

Further Troubles for RBS

Recent news is that The Royal Bank of Scotland are set for another rocky road where their finances are concerned. Companies in the US have launched complaints and are taking legal action against the bank leading several UK companies to follow suit. RBS are being accused of not disclosing the full extent of their problems last year and now may be liable to have to pay out compensation, something that can’t be good for them at a time when they have only just received help from the Government.

Originally, spread betters would ‘invest’ or ‘gamble’ on the stockmarket in shares, commodities and currencies, but in more recent times it is possible to have a spread bet on absolutely, anything you want.
